Many ancillary occupations are done while farming, the most important of which is animal husbandry, dairy business. These include cows, oxen, buffaloes, goats, sheep, dairy and farm animals. When the animals came, there was a big and important issue, which was the fodder for the animals. Balancing green fodder for animals throughout the year is considered important for a successful dairy business. The two types of fodder crops are monocotyledonous fodder crops called cereal crops. These include millets, oats, maize, sorghum (kadwal, kadaba) etc. Other dicotyledonous fodder crops are also called pulses. These include fodder crops like garlic grass, berseem etc. In addition, animals get sugary foods from monocotyledonous fodder crops, while dicotyledonous fodder crops provide abundant protein and minerals. Each animal is required to receive 1: 1 ratio of single and double feed.
There is no need to do much for the cultivation of fodder crops, nor does it require very heavy or good soil. If there is good land then all kinds of crops are good in it, but fodder crops are such crops that dry land is also suitable for them. Fodder crops can be grown well in areas where there is no good water supply and only rain water is available. Fodder crops can also be grown on fallow lands where no crops are grown. Also, crops like hemp and paddy can be grown in dry land and if these green crops are of no use anywhere, then burying the same crops in the same soil can help in improving the texture of the soil.
Also, cultivation of these fodder crops does not require much cultivation. When planting, it is important to look at which fodder crop to choose and how much water and fertilizer is required for it. Also how much area of land is to be planted, how and how much seed is required for it, how much water can be given. Everything should be planned in advance according to how the product will come. This means that even if it is a fodder crop, planning from planting to harvesting should be done in a pragmatic manner.
Farmers who have dryland lands can grow good fodder crops by planning fodder crops well. There is a good chance of financial gain from it. When it is the season, abundant dry or wet fodder is available everywhere. But when the season comes to an end, in large places where there are cowsheds as well as those who run a large dairy business and animal husbandry, they have to face the big problem of fodder. For this, there is a good opportunity in this area too that green and dry fodder can be taken at the right time.
After planting fodder crops, use organic manure as required. Fertilizers like Shenkhat, Pala Pachola etc. should be used in it. Chemical fertilizers should be avoided. Care should also be taken to ensure timely harvesting of crops. All fodder crops like sorghum, millet, maize, garlic etc. should be harvested with proper care so that good yield can be obtained. Also, if possible, avoid taking fodder crops which cause harm to animals and instead turn to good fodder crops which do not cause any harm. Because there are many such fodder crops that come in any soil and under any circumstances but they are harmful to animals.
Animals are important to all of us, it is also our responsibility to take care of their good health from their diet. Fodder crops can be well cultivated in the same way as other crops are well cultivated. A good product can also be taken from it. Fodder can be supplied where there is a shortage of fodder crops. Fodder is a big problem even though it is not visible to the public. In some places fodder is stored in large quantities. There is also a severe shortage of wet and dry fodder in some places, making it difficult for animals to get abundant fodder.
Cultivation of fodder crops is an opportunity that the younger generation needs to turn to. Because if you look at it from a scholarly point of view, you will realize how great an opportunity there is. There is no need to go too far for all these things, you will notice around you. Milk is coming to every person's house. We can study the cowshed, farmer or packing from it and identify the opportunities. Practical approach, proper planning, timely harvesting and creation of good market for it. Properly covered, it will withstand a great deal of adverse conditions.
