उपयुक्ततेच्या आधारे पिकांचे प्रकार

शेतात विविध पिकांची लागवड वेगवेगळ्या कारणांनी केली जाते. त्यातले साम्य असलेली एक गोष्ट म्हणजे सर्व पिकांची लागवड उत्पादन मिळवून देईल हि संकल्पना समोर ठेवून केली जाते. उपयुक्ततेच्या आधारे पिकांचे वेगवेगळ्या पद्धतीने वर्गीकरण केले जाते. त्यामध्ये जास्त उत्पादन मिळवून देणारी पिके, कमी उत्पादन मिळवून देणारी परंतु आवश्यक असणारी पिके. कमी श्रम लागणारी पिके, जास्त श्रम लागणारी पिके. हवामानात अचानक होणारे बदल स्वीकारणारी पिके, हवामानातले बदल न स्वीकारून नुकसान होणारी पिके. जमीन व पाणी यांना चोखंदळ असणारी पिके, जमीन व पाणी यांना जसे आहे त्यात उत्पादन मिळवून देणारी पिके इत्यादी पिकांचे प्रकार आहेत. 

तसेच तृणधान्य पिके, कडधान्य पिके, गळीतधान्य पिके, भाजीपाला पिके, फळबागा, फुलशेती इत्यादी पिके आहेत. यातील पिकांची लागवड हि वेगवेगळ्या कारणांसाठी केली जाते. या बरोबरच वेगवेगळ्या हंगामात केली जाते. हंगाम, जमीन, पाणी व्यवस्थापन इत्यादी सर्व बाबींची सांगड घालून कोणते पिके घेणे उपयुक्त आहे. यावरून पिकांची लागवड केल्यास लाभ होवू शकतात. पिकांची उपयुक्तता अनेक गोष्टींच्या आधारे ठरविली जाते. तशीच ती हंगामी व वार्षिक पिके घेताना देखील ठरविली पाहिजे. कुठल्या पिकाला कोणत्या काळात बाजारभाव चांगला आहे. याचीही अभ्यासपूर्वक माहिती ठेवून पिकांची निवड केली पाहिजे. काही पिकांची प्रक्रिया करून विक्री केल्यास जास्त लाभ होतो. याही बाबींकडे अभ्यासपूर्वक लक्ष दिल्यास आधुनिक पद्धतीने शेती करण्यास चालना मिळेल व होणारे नुकसान टळेल. नुकसान झाले नाही तर आपला शेतकरी राजा सुखी व संपन्न होईल.
